Resource Equity in the time of COVID-19

Presenter: Jonathan Travers, Partner, Education Resource Strategies; Betty Chang, Director, Education Resource Strategies

There are so many things that are uncertain and unknown about the upcoming 2020-21 school year, but one thing we do know for sure is that the COVID pandemic has disproportionately hurt our most vulnerable students and that the anticipated economic recession will almost certainly do the same. This webinar covers a series of equity actions for district leaders to consider when planning for the upcoming 2020-21 school year, focusing on key resource dimensions of school funding, teaching quality and diversity, learning-ready facilities, instructional time and attention, and more, to help ensure that reentry planning efforts do not unintentionally compound existing inequities and instead, equitably serve all students who have been disproportionately impacted by the health and economic challenges of this crisis—including students of color and students with higher needs.

Learning Objectives

Objective 1: Understand the dimensions of resource equity that have the greatest impact on the student experience.
Objective 2: Identify equity actions that your district can take to ensure that reentry plans are equitably serving all students.
Objective 3: Learn about additional resources available through the Alliance for Resource Equity partnership between Education Resource Strategies and The Education Trust.
